Sihanoukville in the rain has been quite a blast this year.Top Cat movie theater is doing well, Fortuna casino, Q&A Bookstore, Boom Boom Room, Monkey Republic, and Utopia have all been doing very well, despite several rainy days.Utopia's putting in a swimming pool, and has forgone it's free rooms for nicer $2 dorm rooms. Khmer New Years is finally over, and the town (but not the beach) has quieted somewhat. After every room in town being filled for a week, now occupancy is at around 50 percent. Khmer (Cambodian) New Years is just around the corner. April 13-15th (and it really starts a couple weeks ahead of time). The beach will be full for a week, mostly with tourists from all over Cambodia, plus the locals take a vacation as well. Best to call ahead and make reservations, between the 10th and 20th of April. Many short term jobs in SihanoukVille if you want to stay a few months.Engish jobs pay $5 to $7 and their looking for native English speakers who will stay a minimum of 3 months.Jobs behind a bar at Monkey Republic, Utopia, a couple places off Ocheteaul Beach, right on the beach, and a couple places on Victory Hill. These ususally pay free room, food and booze.

Utopia just had another full moon party. Seem to have them about every month.Relief for Otres beach. They were due to have construction there, but everything remains. Still one of the hardest to get to, (and nicest) beaches in town.Independence Beach is gone for now (except for Independence Hotel guests and in front of SeaBreeze guesthouse). Budget options in SihanoukVille. What used to be a backpacker only place is moving up. And many of the budget/cheap backpacker options in Sihanoukville are moving to accommodate the resorts going up in town.
